Mexico City is one of the most popular travel destinations in Mexico. When I tell you that Mexico City has EVERYTHING. I mean it. I lived in Mexico City for over a year during the pandemic and I can tell you that I absolutely loved living there. One thing about Mexico City is that there are ALOT of FREE and FUN things to do. Here is one of my favorite free things to do: Sunday Ciclovia.
Location: Paseo de la Reforma
When: Every Sunday
Don’t worry, you do not have to rent or know how to ride a bike. There are many people who will walk or run. There are even lots of roller skaters. Sunday Ciclovia is a perfect way to get to walk through Mexico City as they shut down the road for pedestrians.
Throughout Paseo de la Reforma there are vendors who will give participants water, Gatorade, and even tune-up cyclists’ bikes if they have problems. In some sections, there will be speakers with music playing!
Here is the Facebook page for more information on times, updates, and special events.
If you are wanting to rent a bike, there are some areas that have free bikes, you will need to leave your ID with the vendor, and may have a time limit.

Along the way, there will be lots of food and shop vendors. I always make sure to have at least 400-500 pesos on me so that If I get hungry or see something that I like I can pay. The street food is delicious. For me personally, Mexico is #2, and Thailand is #1, when it comes to street food. When I do travel in Mexico City, I ALWAYS have a fany pack. Mexico City is notorious for pick pocketers and they are good. I don’t recommend carrying big purses when you are out.
