Traveling invokes so many different feelings, whether you travel domestically or internationally. When I travel, I get this sense of excitement like I would have the night before the first day of school. When I decided to become a Digital Nomad (pre-covid), my senses were heightened. I felt new and different emotions when traveling to a new country, hiking, sleeping on a volcano skipping through a jungle to various Mayan Ruins. My writing skills developed, so I was a better blogger internationally than when I lived in the United States. Here are my top three reasons why digital nomad life is better as a Blogger.
Creativity
Can we say that nothing allows your creativity to flow more than being in a group of like-minded individuals on the back of a pick-up truck treading up to Semuc Champey? The geography, the smells, and the altitude are unmatched. What is also amazing is that the people around you are from different countries, so the conversations are outside of the normal ones you would have back home. Seeing the vibrant greens, the shapes of the mountains, and the colors of traditional Mayan clothes spark so much more creativity than the typical day-to-day life back home would bring.
Expansiveness
Traveling pushes you to your limits. The food is different, the fruits and vegetables have different tastes, and sometimes there is a language barrier if you do not speak the same language. But the experience stretches you to your limits. It allows you to expand outside of your routine back home.
Inspiration
Traveling leaves you constantly inspired. I am always inspired by how different cultures live and the customs that they celebrate. While living in India during Diwali was a different experience than how it is observed and perceived in the United States. It was beautiful to see how the woman made the clay pots outside for the lights and how the children would help. Also, seeing how communities come together to spread the wealth, and help those in need is incredible to experience. Also, adapting certain customs that you resonate with is lovely to keep with you as you travel on. I still make chai tea from scratch, and while I sip, I am reminded of the small pleasures I experienced during my time in India with the dance of steam rising from my cup and the smell of spices when I inhale.
All this has allowed me to be a better blogger. Not only am I a better blogger, but I am also able to be in the present moment, knowing that time will pass, but being present is a gift of the now.
