Have you been researching, “Beautiful destinations in Mexico?” for your next vacation, and Mérida appeared? Well, I am here to tell you that Mérida is absolutely stunning. So how do you get here? You are in luck. There are several ways to travel to Mérida and here are the best two ways.
Fly Directly into Mérida International Airport
Mérida International Airport is located roughly 8 km from Mérida City Center. With no traffic that is about a 20-minute drive. Flying directly into Mérida is by far the easiest option.
Fly to Cancun International Airport and take the ADO Bus
If you happen to fly into Cancun you can take the ADO bus directly into Mérida. The ADO bus will pick you up from the designated area and drop you off at the bus center located near the Center of Mérida. The ride is about 5 hours and highly recommend you take the earliest option so that you can avoid being in traffic. At the time this is being written and for a long time after, there is and will be construction on the highway.
Renting a Car
If you are coming from Mexico City (CDMX) the drive would take you about 18+ hours. I know of someone who did the drive and it took them two days. They do not recommend it unless you are on holiday and want to stop and see a particular town or land/monumental attraction.
The quickest and best way to travel to Mérida is by plane, but if you do have the time and would like to explore Mexico more you can rent a car or take a bus. Either way, Mérida is well worth the trek to Yucatan Capital.
