One of the many things that Mérida is doing right is the coffee! I have not had a bad Cappuccino, Latte, Iced Coffee, Frappés, or Freddi (shaken in Spanish)! I have narrowed the list in the City Center of Mérida down to my top three. This was incredibly hard, btw. I may have to list part two!
The First Place on my list of go-to is SOCO Mérida.
Soco Mérida has several locations in Mérida, but the one I am referencing is Centro. Located a few blocks from Parque Santa Ana, Soco Mérida is nestled in between beautiful colorful casitas. The baristas take the craft very seriously as you can see by the latte art. As I write this post, I have been to Soco Mérida a total of FIVE TIMES! And let me tell you, Soco Mérida has not missed! I honestly don’t think that Soco Mérida will miss.
The Second Place on my list of go-to coffee shops is SEMPRE.
If you read my previous post, The Best Place To Visit In Mexico, you will know that it is HOT! This is not a complaint, but just a factual statement. Mérida is hot year-round. So it’s safe to say that you will have one if not two (I’ve stopped counting) Affogato! Affogato is vanilla ice cream served to you in rocks or fancy glass with a shot of espresso that is poured over it. 10/10 ALWAYS RECOMMEND.
And the third place on my list is the most aesthetically pleasing, so bring your camera and dress to impress, it’s located inside an art gallery, PORTAVIA!
Portavia is a hidden gem. I honestly don’t want to tell anyone about it, but I also want to scream its praises through the roof.
Here is the location:
C. 60 466, Parque Santa Lucia, Centro, 97000 Mérida, Yuc.
Portavia is located in Caracol Purpura in the City Center of Merida. Portavia is absolutely stunning. I am manifesting modeling my dream vacation home to the exact architecture and aesthetic of this magnificent place. Okay, so let me get back to the coffee. I have had so much from the menu and have not been disappointed. One thing I will tell you is if you are a Chai drinker, the Chai at Portavia comes pretty damn close to the Chai served in India. I WAS SHOOKETH! To the older generation, “Shooketh” is an extra way of saying my needs and expectations were insanely surpassed.
As you can see I am absolutely in LOVE with Mérida and the coffee. For all my coffee lovers, you should add Mérida to your coffee bucket list destinations! You can follow me as I travel my way around the world on my Instagram, Tiktok, and Youtube!
